Lake Liberty
Our Lake Liberty is an 88-acre lake that is a wonderful place to go canoe, kayak, and fish. Lake Liberty Trail, near the lake, is an excellent place to view native wildlife. Since combustion-propelled watercraft and swimming are not allowed, Lake Liberty is a peaceful place to get away from it all and reconnect with nature. It is open to the public from 6 AM – 11 PM, 7 days a week. Fishing is welcome, no permit from City is needed but you must have a valid fishing license.
Lake Liberty is located on Highway KY 70, first right after the Casey County High School.
Shut In Road Trail
In 2021, this lightly used county road was designated as a shared-use 7.4-mile out-and-back nature trail. The mostly flat trail provides an abundance of wildflowers throughout the hiking season! The trail takes you along the Green River and various small creeks. The designated trailhead is on the Northside of Shut In Road, just after pulling off of US 127, (marked on the map). Please do not leave any valuables in your vehicle. Remember to leave no trace and share the trail. Please be respectful of adjacent landowners.
Central KY Ag Expo Center Trail & Liberty Island

These paths provide a great time for the whole family and wonderful opportunities to spot our local Bald Eagle population or other incredible wildlife.
Down the Green Paddle Trail
Enjoy 10.4 river miles of the Green River on the Down the Green Paddle Trail, running through Casey County. The entire Green River is a 384-mile-long, tributary of the Ohio River that rises in Lincoln County in south-central KY. This section of the Green River is mapped as part of the Blue Water Trails. The Blue Water Trails series details paddling trips on streams and rivers across Kentucky, provided by the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife. The overarching goal of the series is to provide thorough information for paddlers to enjoy floating Kentucky streams without worry. Every access area profiled in the Blue Water Trails is open to public use.
Public access points in Casey County Include, the Old Water Plant, Central KY Ag Expo Center (multiple points of access), and Green River Valley Ford. The county has other access points, north of Old Water Plant that are considered public county roads as well.
